NHRC Records 134 Rights Abuse Cases in Kano for June

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Kano State says it recorded 134 cases of alleged human rights violations in June alone.

State Coordinator of the NHRC, Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Thursday in Kano.

According to him, out of the total complaints, 76 cases have so far been resolved, while 58 remain under investigation.

Providing a breakdown, Abdullahi revealed that the bulk of the cases — about 109 — involved incidents such as child abandonment, denial of access to children, domestic violence (five cases), and assault (11 cases).

Additionally, nine other cases were tied to breaches of agreements and disputes over inheritance rights.

He noted that the commission also stepped in to mediate family disputes and marital issues, aiming to restore harmony.

Abdullahi encouraged couples to practice patience and understanding in their relationships, stressing that this was key to building lasting marriages and reducing rights violations in homes.
