Nigeria Immigration Service Elevates 39 Officers In Major Promotion Drive

According to Ireporter Online, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, has officially decorated 39 officers with promotions to the rank of Comptroller of Immigration (CI). The ceremony, which took place at the NIS Technology Building in Abuja, was attended by the officers’ spouses, who assisted Mrs. Nandap during the event.

The promotions were awarded in recognition of the officers’ dedication, commitment to excellence, and demonstration of values that have positioned the NIS alongside top global institutions. Out of the 46 officers promoted, one had passed away before the ceremony, while six retired and were unable to attend. Notable officers among those decorated include Farouk Audu Umar, Olubu Kalu Ibe, Omoniwa David Adedeji, Abang O Mary, Oladele G Olubunmi, Mamman A Richard, Ofeimum Osameke, Ige A Rasak, and Olaniyan I Adebayo.

Mrs. Nandap emphasized that promotions are not automatic or solely based on tenure but are earned through loyalty, hard work, and a high sense of responsibility. She praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for honoring their commitment to the welfare and progression of NIS officers, and lauded the families of the officers for their unwavering support.

The Comptroller-General encouraged officers who missed out on this round of promotion to remain focused, resilient, and dedicated, assuring them that their opportunity would come. She also stressed the importance of supporting ongoing reforms within the NIS, highlighting the introduction of the biometric-based Single Travel Emergency Passport (STEP) in 2026, which is expected to enhance the service’s technological capabilities, including e-Visa and e-Passport solutions.

Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Management, Afolayan Ayeni, credited the promotions to the commitment of President Tinubu and Dr. Tunji-Ojo to the welfare of NIS personnel and urged officers to rededicate themselves to the service’s mandate, reminding them that promotion brings greater responsibilities.
