Nigeria on the Brink! Dele Momodu Criticizes Tinubu’s Handling of Security and Economy

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu, has voiced deep concerns over the escalating insecurity and economic hardships under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In an interview with the Sunday Sun, Momodu offered a frank evaluation of Nigeria’s deteriorating state, highlighting the government’s inability to meet the high expectations it set.
Addressing the worsening security situation, Momodu noted that despite changes in leadership, there has been no meaningful progress. He recalled the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Major General, saying, “I don’t see anything new. From Jonathan’s era to Buhari’s and now Tinubu’s, insecurity persists. It was especially disappointing under Buhari, who, given his military background, was expected to handle the crisis better.”
Momodu criticized Buhari’s handling of the Fulani herdsmen crisis and pointed out that true peace remained elusive throughout his administration — a trend that has not only continued under Tinubu but worsened.
“It’s getting worse. Over the past few months, insecurity has escalated, and it’s clear the government has yet to get a grip on the situation,” he lamented.
Expressing a sense of helplessness, Momodu added, “When all else fails, we can only pray for a miracle. But so far, I haven’t seen that miracle.”
Tinubu’s Campaign Promises: A Disappointing Reality
Momodu was equally scathing about President Tinubu’s campaign promises, describing the gap between promises and actual delivery as stark.
“Oh, definitely not. The promises made during the campaign were massive, but the delivery has been extremely poor,” he said.
He specifically criticised the chaotic start to Tinubu’s presidency, slamming the immediate removal of the fuel subsidy without properly weighing its consequences.
“The biggest mistake he made was to create chaos from the very first day. The inauguration should have been a day of celebration and sober reflection, not rash policy moves,” Momodu said.
