Nigeria Stands Strong: Tinubu Vows Total Defeat Of Terrorists
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that the country will not allow individuals seeking to destabilize the nation to undermine its peace, unity, or independence. The assurance was given on Monday during an interfaith breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where the President hosted religious and traditional leaders from across the country.
The gathering brought together leaders of diverse faiths and traditional institutions as part of ongoing efforts to foster national unity and cooperation. Addressing the meeting, President Tinubu highlighted the security challenges facing Nigeria, particularly the escalating activities of terrorists. He noted that the attackers are becoming increasingly desperate as security forces intensify operations against them, but emphasized that Nigeria will not relent in its fight against violent groups.
The President stated that the government remains committed to defeating those responsible for attacks and restoring peace, pledging that actions by violent groups would not deter national efforts to ensure safety and security.
President Tinubu also discussed the state of the economy, noting that significant improvements have been achieved since the beginning of his administration. He acknowledged the difficult economic circumstances inherited by his government but said efforts have been made to stabilize the situation, prevent a financial crisis, and ensure that pensioners gradually receive their entitlements. He further highlighted that state governors are no longer struggling to meet workers’ salaries due to economic stabilization efforts.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to investing in critical sectors such as agriculture and education, describing them as essential for national development and the wellbeing of future generations. He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that his administration is focused on building a safer and more prosperous country.
Speaking at the event, the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for convening leaders of different religions, noting that the gathering exemplifies national unity despite religious diversity. He prayed for peace and divine guidance for Nigeria and its leadership. The Etsu Nupe represented the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, stated that the Christian community would continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving the economy and strengthening security. Dr. Stephen Baba-Panya, President of the Evangelical Church Winning All, represented him at the event.
The interfaith and traditional leaders’ gathering, attended by representatives from all six geopolitical zones, formed part of Ramadan activities promoting peace, unity, and cooperation among Nigerians.
