Nigerian-Senate Denies Approving Aircraft-Procurement For President Tinubu And VP Shettima (Details)

The Nigerian Senate has refuted claims that it is proposing to approve the procurement of aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio dismissed the reports circulating in the media, asserting that the upper legislative chamber is not considering new aircraft for the President and Vice President. Speaking in Maiduguri after leading a condolence visit to Senator Tahir Monguno, Akpabio stated there is no basis for these claims.

Last week, media reports suggested that the Senate President had commented on approving the purchase of new aircraft for Tinubu and Shettima despite the prevailing hunger among Nigerians. Akpabio attributed these reports to propagandists and fifth columnists, emphasizing that the Senate’s focus is on supporting President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I want to dispel the rumour that the Senate President said he will buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, irrespective of the fact that Nigerians are hungry,” Akpabio clarified. “I never said that. I was actually in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It is the handiwork of propagandists and fifth columnists. Pray for the government, have patience, and be assured that the combination of Tinubu and Shettima will bring wealth and prosperity to all.”

Expressing satisfaction with the current security situation in Borno State, Akpabio urged Nigerians to continue supporting the administration.
