Nigerian ‘Student’ Nabbed In India As Cocaine Is Found Hidden Inside Bread

Security operatives attached to the Central Crime Branch reportedly recovered about 121 grams of cocaine from the suspect, with the seized drugs estimated to be worth over ₹1.2 crore. Investigators described the concealment method as part of a growing trend in which traffickers use everyday food items to evade security scrutiny.

Further findings by the police revealed that Olajide entered India last year on a student visa, claiming to be enrolled in an academic institution. However, investigations showed that she never registered with any school, raising suspicions about her true purpose in the country.

Authorities disclosed that instead of pursuing studies, the suspect frequently moved across several areas in Mumbai, including Ghatkopar, Ambawadi, Gala Nagar and Nallasopara, where she was allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

Investigators also linked her to a wider narcotics network operating across Indian cities. She was said to have obtained the cocaine from a male associate in Mumbai and was instructed to personally deliver it to another Nigerian national based in Bengaluru, a strategy reportedly adopted to avoid courier surveillance and reduce suspicion.

Acting on intelligence reports, officers tracked her movements and intercepted her shortly after she arrived in Bengaluru by private bus. A search of her backpack uncovered several loaves of bread with cavities drilled into them, where the cocaine had been carefully concealed alongside other food items.

Following her arrest and subsequent confession, police carried out a follow-up operation that led to the apprehension of the intended recipient of the drugs near the Varthur area. Authorities confirmed that the Nigerian buyer was later deported after his arrest, as investigations into the broader drug network continue.
