According to Ireporter Online, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has formally acknowledged the receipt of the resignation letter of its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The party, through a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye, on Sunday, indicated that Kwankwaso’s departure was expected. The statement explained that his defection follows ongoing discussions among opposition parties aimed at creating a stronger alliance in preparation for upcoming elections.

The NNPP emphasized that the move is part of broader efforts to unite opposition figures and challenge the ruling APC government, with the goal of advancing the country’s political trajectory.

Despite his resignation, the party expressed gratitude to Kwankwaso for his contributions over the past three years, highlighting the significant political progress achieved under his leadership, including the election of a governor, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and various state assembly officials.
