The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has dismissed circulating reports claiming that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has been postponed, describing the information as false and misleading.

According to Ireporter Online, the examination body, in a statement issued on Saturday, clarified that the alleged postponement notice did not originate from its office and urged candidates and the general public to disregard the claim. The board emphasized that all preparations for the 2026 UTME remain on track and will proceed as scheduled.

The board stated that its attention was drawn to what it described as a malicious and fabricated press release suggesting a shift in the examination timetable, reiterating that no such decision has been made.

It was gathered that the UTME is scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026, as earlier announced by the board. Ahead of the main examination, a mock UTME was conducted on March 28 to test the readiness of candidates and examination centres.

However, the mock exercise recorded setbacks in some locations due to technical issues, leaving several candidates unable to participate. Out of over 224,000 registered candidates, more than 152,000 successfully completed the test across hundreds of accredited computer-based test centres nationwide.

The board further disclosed that over 20 centres affected by technical challenges during the mock examination have since been removed from its list of approved centres due to insufficient infrastructure.
