No Coalition Can Stop Tinubu’s Re-Election” — APC Chieftain

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ondo South, Chief Suffy Uguoji, has declared that no political coalition formed with the intention of defeating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election will succeed.

According to IReporter Online, Uguoji said the people of the Southwest remained firmly behind Tinubu’s ambition to secure a second term in office.

Speaking against the backdrop of emerging political alliances ahead of the 2027 general election, the APC chieftain argued that Nigerians, particularly those from the Southwest, would resist any move aimed at denying Tinubu the opportunity to complete two constitutional terms.

Uguoji said opposition to the President should not be motivated by desperation to take over power, stressing that Tinubu is still serving his first term and has the constitutional right to seek re-election.

He compared the situation to the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who served two terms despite criticism of his government.

According to Uguoji, Buhari, who came from the Northwest, was allowed to complete his constitutionally permitted eight-year tenure, adding that Tinubu was among the politicians who supported Buhari throughout his presidency.

The APC chieftain argued that fairness and equity should apply regardless of the region from which a president emerges.

He maintained that the Southwest would not accept what he described as an attempt by politicians to limit Tinubu’s presidency to a single four-year term when other regions had enjoyed eight years in office.

Uguoji insisted that the same political opportunity given to previous presidents should also be extended to Tinubu, describing it as necessary for fairness and balance in the country.

He declared that people across the Southwest would mobilise behind the President and work towards securing his victory in the 2027 presidential election.

The APC chieftain warned that the region would oppose any arrangement that would result in a northern president serving eight years while a southern president is restricted to four years.

He therefore advised politicians who are positioning themselves to succeed Tinubu to wait until 2031 rather than attempting to dislodge the President through opposition coalitions in 2027.

Uguoji’s comments come amid growing political realignments and discussions over possible opposition coalitions ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
