Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has dismissed speculations of a rift between him and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, stressing that their working relationship remains solid and decisions on governance are taken jointly.

Speaking during a church thanksgiving service in Benin City to celebrate Idahosa’s 45th birthday, the governor recalled that he had foreseen Idahosa becoming his deputy during their first meeting at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

He described Idahosa as a trusted partner in leadership, noting that every major policy under the “Akpakorescue” administration is the product of mutual discussion and agreement. Okpebholo expressed confidence in Idahosa’s future, praying for God’s continued guidance in his political journey.

In his remarks, the deputy governor reflected on his humble beginnings, sharing that he lost his father at the age of six and was raised by his mother. He credited his rise in politics—becoming a commissioner at 34—to divine grace and life experiences that inspired his philanthropic commitment to empowering women and youths.
