Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has unveiled plans to construct a 500-bed hostel facility for the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, according to iReporter Online.

The announcement was made during his campaign tour of various wards in Esan West Local Government Area, including Iruekpen and Ekpoma, as part of preparations for the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial By-election, according to iReporter Online.

The governor assured that construction work on the new hostel will begin in the coming weeks, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure.

“Edo State Government will build a 500-hostel space accommodation for the medical school in AAU, Ekpoma. In the coming weeks, we will mobilize work to start,” he said.

According to iReporter Online, Governor Okpebholo recalled that one of his earliest commitments upon taking office was to increase the school’s subvention to ₦500 million and to establish its governing council, both of which have been fulfilled.

He also urged party members to rally support to secure 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The campaign event saw the presence of prominent APC figures, including State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh and Edo Central Senatorial Leader Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd).
