Oluremi Tinubu Urges World Leaders: “Put Humanity Before Technology”

According to Ireporter Online, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called on global policymakers, educators, and innovators to ensure that technological growth remains anchored in human values. She made the appeal while addressing the “Education Above All” session at the 12th World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar.

The First Lady emphasised that as the world advances further into the digital era, it is essential for humanity to remain at the core of every innovation. She cautioned that technology developed without ethical consideration could hinder rather than advance global progress.

In a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, Senator Tinubu stressed the need for people—not machines—to guide technological direction, noting that human dignity, social connection, and purpose must be preserved.

Sharing the platform with First Ladies from Lebanon and Syria, she commended Qatar’s educational strides and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, particularly for girls. She noted that no religious doctrine opposes female education and reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to unlocking the vast potential that learning offers.

Senator Tinubu highlighted the global achievements of Nigerian youth across sectors such as technology, arts, fashion, agriculture, and entertainment. She credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s focus on innovation and digital literacy as vital to strengthening the country’s human capital.

While acknowledging the advantages of digital learning in a growing economy like Nigeria, the First Lady noted that responsible use of technology remains critical, adding that continuous empowerment would help young people harness digital tools more effectively.

The summit’s host and Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, also reiterated that education must be transformative, offering young people meaningful opportunities and helping communities prosper. Other speakers at the global gathering—which recorded over 150,000 participants—stressed that ethical principles must guide the use of artificial intelligence, warning that technological advancement without moral foundations would be superficial.
