Ondo Assembly Gives Update On Impeachment Process Of Deputy Governor Aiyedatiwa
The Ondo State House of Assembly has refuted what it termed as “some misleading news reports” claiming that it had halted the impeachment proceedings against the state Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The House affirmed its commitment to see the impeachment process through to a rightful conclusion to ascertain the truth behind the “significant allegations of serious misconduct against the Deputy Governor.”

According to a statement signed by its legal representative, Femi Emodamori, on Saturday, the Ondo Assembly clarified that it has diligently followed the impeachment procedures outlined in the Constitution, reaching the stage where the Chief Judge is tasked with forming a 7-member panel to investigate the allegations against the Deputy Governor.
The Assembly explained that the Chief Judge informed them that he had received an ex parte order, which the Deputy Governor obtained from the Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court on September 26, 2023. This order ‘restrained’ the Chief Judge from convening the Panel until the Court could hear all parties involved and determine the merits of the application or the case brought forth by the Deputy Governor.
The House further noted that it is promptly pursuing the necessary legal actions to annul or dismiss the order and/or the entire case at the Federal High Court, in order to free the Chief Judge to proceed with the impeachment process to its rightful conclusion.
