“Oshiomhole Fires Back: Atiku Can’t Fix Nigeria If He Couldn’t Fix PDP!”

According to Ireporter Online, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has launched a strong attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, declaring that someone who could not stabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot be entrusted with leading Nigeria.

Oshiomhole, who previously served as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today. He questioned Atiku’s leadership credibility, arguing that the former PDP presidential candidate failed to organise or strengthen the party despite his influence and long-standing political profile.

He said Atiku’s inability to rebuild the PDP—where he once held the nation’s second-highest office—was enough evidence that he lacks the capacity to manage a country as complex as Nigeria.

His criticism came on the heels of Atiku’s official move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), ending months of speculation surrounding his next political step. The former vice president announced his defection on , posting a picture of himself holding his ADC membership card and writing, “It’s official.”

Oshiomhole also revisited Atiku’s earlier exit from the APC, accusing him of dumping the ruling party simply because he failed to secure the presidential ticket. According to him, Atiku’s political movements are driven by personal ambition rather than party-building or national interest.

The Edo North senator insisted that Atiku’s recent alignment with the ADC was another attempt to reposition himself ahead of the 2027 presidential contest. He stressed that Atiku’s political history disqualifies him from claiming the competence to fix Nigeria, saying someone who couldn’t strengthen the party that once made him vice president cannot claim readiness to lead the country.

Atiku had earlier resigned from the PDP in July after prolonged internal disputes and claims that the party had strayed from its founding principles.
