According to Ireporter Online, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has revealed that the financial investment in signing Victor Osimhen is so substantial that it could potentially cover the cost of assembling an entire squad.

The Turkish Super Lig champions secured Osimhen on a permanent transfer last summer, following an impressive loan spell from Napoli. Despite reported interest from Premier League and Saudi Arabian clubs, Galatasaray activated the striker’s €75 million release clause to finalize the deal.

Osimhen, who previously spent five years in Naples, has returned to Istanbul as one of Galatasaray’s highest-paid players. He earns a guaranteed €15 million annually, in addition to a €1 million loyalty bonus per season and €5 million in image rights. With a four-year contract in place, the club’s total financial commitment for the striker is estimated at €159 million.

Reflecting on the club’s rising expenditures after Galatasaray’s 3-1 Turkish Cup win over Istanbulspor, Buruk emphasized the importance of financial prudence. “Galatasaray’s transfer fees and salaries have been increasing since last year. With Osimhen’s transfer fee and salary, you could probably build a complete team. We need to take these things into account,” he said.

Buruk also highlighted other recent additions to the squad, including Singo, Uğurcan, Sané, and İlkay, noting that teams must adhere to budgetary constraints when planning for the season.

Ahead of a crucial Super Lig match against Rizespor, Buruk chose to rest Osimhen during Wednesday’s Turkish Cup clash, prioritizing the striker’s fitness for upcoming league fixtures.
