Osun 2026: APGA Candidate Abandons Bid, Declares Support For APC

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Osun State, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, has withdrawn from the August 15 governorship election and declared his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

According to IREPORTER Online, Adeyemi-Doro announced his decision on Saturday during the Osun Youth Interactive Session with Oyebamiji, organised by the APC Campaign Council in Osogbo.

The APGA candidate explained that his decision followed consultations with the leadership and members of his party across the state.

He said discussions with key APGA stakeholders resulted in an understanding to collaborate with the APC and support Oyebamiji’s bid in the forthcoming election.

Adeyemi-Doro said he had closely assessed the leading candidates before reaching his decision, adding that his consultations with the state chairman, secretary and other senior party members influenced the alignment.

He described the development as a collaboration among progressives and expressed optimism that the partnership would help deliver victory for Oyebamiji.

The endorsement is expected to influence the political calculations ahead of the election, as political parties continue to intensify their mobilisation and negotiations in the final days of campaigning.

Responding to the development, Oyebamiji thanked the APGA candidate for his support and pledged that both political camps would work together.

The APC candidate also promised to extend his campaign’s engagement to other political parties in an effort to broaden his support base and build a wider coalition ahead of the poll.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Directorate of Youth, Students and Civil Society of the Osun APC Campaign Council, Ayodele Asalu, said the youth interactive session was organised to give young people an opportunity to engage directly with Oyebamiji and seek clarification on his plans for the state.

According to Asalu, participants raised questions concerning education, employment, entrepreneurship, community development and youth involvement in governance.

He encouraged participants, regardless of their political affiliations, to carefully examine the candidates’ programmes and make informed decisions based on issues that affect their lives and the future of Osun State.
