Osun Law Enforcement Cracks Down On Heinous Attack, Arrests 8 Over Teen’s Maiming

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of eight individuals in connection with a horrifying case involving the removal of the scrotum of a 16-year-old boy, Faruq Abudu, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state, according to IReporter Online.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, it was revealed that the suspects allegedly lured the teenager into a remote bush before carrying out the gruesome act.

On July 26, 2025, at about 4:00 p.m., Faruq, along with two acquaintances—identified as Ismail Abiodun and Usman Ademola—had gone to cut grass in the Arademi Arae area of Ikire.

After the task, the two allegedly deceived Faruq into following them deeper into the bush, where they attacked him. Police reports indicate they cut his abdomen in an attempt to harvest his vital organs, ultimately removing his scrotum.

The suspects reportedly fled when the victim raised an alarm.

According to IReporter Online, police officers promptly arrived at the scene, rescuing the boy and rushing him to a nearby hospital before transferring him to the University College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Eight suspects—Ismail Abiodun (22), Usman Ademola (22), Yonke Akinwale, Fatai Abiodun, Fatai Sikiru, Tawa Inakonko, Idowu Adesina, and Awotunde Saudat—have been apprehended.

Authorities confirm that investigations are ongoing and all individuals involved will be prosecuted upon conclusion of the inquiry.

In related operations, the police also arrested one Quadri Akanji (26) on July 26 for allegedly robbing a resident of an iPhone 11.

The suspect confessed to traveling from Ibadan to Osogbo to carry out robberies.

Additionally, on July 30 at about 11:45 a.m., officers detained Michael Temiloluwa (22) and Odunayo Joshua (22) at the Osun State Polytechnic junction in Iree, where they confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity active within the institution.

Another arrest involved Asimi Waliu (25), intercepted during a stop-and-search along the Sekona–Gbongan Road, Ede. A cut-to-size locally made pistol with three live cartridges and a jack knife were found concealed in his bag.

Further investigation led police to the home of his alleged accomplice, Olabisi Tunde, where they recovered a single-barrel gun, twelve expended cartridges, and two live cartridges.

In a separate incident, police apprehended Olaniyi Quadri (25) and Garba Ibrahim (48) for allegedly stealing a motorcycle with registration number JER 464 QA from a mosque on July 26 at about 6:30 p.m. The suspects have reportedly admitted to the crime.

According to IReporter Online, the Osun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to cracking down on violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery, and organ trafficking, stressing that such acts would be met with swift and uncompromising justice.
