PDP in Crisis: Maduabum Dumps Party, Declares ADC a Beacon of Hope
The former Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and ex-member of the House of Representatives, C.I.D. Maduabum, has announced his formal resignation from the PDP, denouncing the party’s collapse into what he described as a corrupted shell of its former self.
In a press statement released on Sunday, the veteran politician disclosed that he had joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the PDP of being “hijacked by self-serving and unscrupulous elements.” According to IReporter Online, Maduabum did not mince words, asserting that the once formidable party now lacks direction, moral clarity, and internal democracy.
Maduabum noted that PDP has become a place where “voices of reason are no longer welcome,” and that honest reformers face vilification or outright silencing. “It is now a shadow of its former self,” he said, attributing his departure to deep internal rot, betrayal, and the erosion of founding values that once gave the party its ideological strength.
He praised the African Democratic Congress for offering a credible democratic platform, describing it as “a beacon of hope committed to good governance, accountability, and inclusion.” According to IReporter Online, Maduabum emphasized that his defection was not out of political convenience but from a desire to align with a party that prioritizes people-oriented and principled leadership.
“The ADC presents a viable platform for meaningful reform,” he declared. “I join the ADC not merely as a defector but as a reformer with a renewed commitment to justice, equity, and national transformation.”
In explaining his choice, Maduabum cited the presence of “progressive-minded leaders like Mr. Peter Obi” within the ADC as a motivating factor. According to IReporter Online, he urged disillusioned Nigerians to rethink their political alignments and join the ADC as a new movement for national restoration.
He concluded by pledging his continued service to the people and reaffirmed his dedication to justice, selfless leadership, and democratic ideals.
