PGF Chairman: 18 APC Governors Rally Behind Uzodimma Amid Alleged Removal Plot

According to Ireporter Online, the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) has issued a strong vote of confidence in its chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, dismissing reports suggesting a leadership change within the forum.

The development followed speculation that some members of the group had allegedly named the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, as a replacement leader during a recent internal move. However, the claim was firmly rejected during a closed-door meeting held at the Imo Lodge, where 18 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reaffirmed their loyalty to Uzodimma’s leadership.

Governors in attendance included those of Ondo, Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi, Benue, and Jigawa States, while Nasarawa State was represented by its deputy governor. Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, briefly attended before leaving after a short engagement with the host governor.

Moving the motion for the confidence vote, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, maintained that Uzodimma and his deputy, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, still enjoy the full backing of members, stressing that there was no crisis within the forum. The motion was seconded by Governor Uba Sani, who described the reports of division as misleading, insisting that the governors remain united and firmly supportive of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Uzodimma, in his remarks, also dismissed claims of internal discord within the APC governors’ bloc, reaffirming their unity and collective commitment ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries and the 2027 general elections. He added that the forum remains focused on governance, improved performance, and delivering social interventions to citizens across the country.
