Plateau Senator Switches Camp, Moves From ADP To APC

According to Ireporter Online, Senator Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang has officially defected from the Action Democratic Party (ADP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development was confirmed on Thursday during plenary at the Senate after the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, read a formal letter announcing the lawmaker’s decision on the floor of the Red Chamber.

In the correspondence, Senator Dachungyang attributed his defection to irreconcilable internal challenges within the ADP, which he said made it difficult for him to function effectively within the party. He explained that his decision to align with the APC was guided by the need for a more stable and enabling political platform to better represent the interests of his constituents.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has unveiled a provisional timetable for its primary elections ahead of the 2026 local government polls in Anambra State.

Political sources disclosed that the timetable was approved in compliance with the party’s constitution and the electoral calendar issued by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission.

Under the schedule, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms are set to commence on January 27 and will run until February 6 at the party’s regional secretariat in Awka.

The party further disclosed that the screening of aspirants for chairmanship and councillorship positions would be conducted between February 7 and February 11 across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards.

Appeals arising from the screening process are expected to be handled on February 13, while ward congresses for the election of councillorship candidates and ad-hoc delegates have been fixed for February 14. The chairmanship primary election is scheduled to hold on February 15 in Awka.
