Police Nab Two Notorious Traffic Robbers in Lagos’ Ketu-Mile 12 Axis

The Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has apprehended two individuals accused of being notorious traffic robbers operating in the Ketu and Mile 12 areas of Lagos.

According to an official statement shared on the RRS’s X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, the suspects, Yemi Aparaojo (33), also known as Asa, and Samuel Adekunle (37), popularly called Omo-jo–Ibo, were arrested around 11 a.m. on Tuesday during a routine patrol in the area.

The duo, along with two others still at large, had reportedly robbed a passerby of ₦25,000 the previous week. The group had persistently begged the man for money and, when he offered assistance, they allegedly attacked and forcefully stole his cash.

Fortune turned against the suspects when the victim spotted one of them, Adekunle, in the area on Tuesday and quickly alerted nearby RRS officers. The police responded swiftly, apprehending the two suspects, while the remaining gang members fled through Ketu Market.

The RRS statement explained:

“The suspects were involved in robbing a pedestrian around noon last week. Upon sighting the gang leader on Tuesday, the victim notified our operatives, who moved in and arrested them.”

CSP Sola Jejeloye, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, revealed that the arrests were part of a broader strategy under the instruction of the Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, to boost patrols and reduce criminal activities along key traffic routes.

Jejeloye confirmed that the arrested suspects would be charged to court without delay, and assured that efforts to apprehend the fleeing accomplices are ongoing.
