“Portable Sparks Frenzy: ‘Whoever Gives Me Money Is Who I’ll Follow’”

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has sparked outrage with a declaration about his stance on the 2027 general elections. In a video shared on his Instagram page, the street-hop artist asked his followers whether they had obtained their voter’s cards before announcing that he would support whichever political party or candidate offers him money first.

Portable stated that his loyalty lies strictly with financial benefactors, stressing that he would endorse any politician who pays him ahead of others. He went further to urge his fans to adopt the same mindset and “sell their votes” to whoever provides them with financial assistance.

In his words: “Anybody wey give me money na who I go follow. Anybody wey fit help our life. If APC brings money first, APC owns me. If PDP brings money first, I will collect. Even if it’s Peter Obi that pays first, I’ll tell my fans to follow him, to vote for him. Vote for anybody wey you like, vote for your helper, vote for who give you money.”

While his remarks continue to stir heated discussions online, Portable’s personal life also drew attention after his fourth wife, actress Ashabi Simple, shared an emotional message about their marriage.

Ashabi, whose real name is Omobolarinde Akinyanju, expressed deep affection for her husband in a heartfelt Instagram post. The Nollywood actress, who shares at least two children with the singer, described every moment with him as a blessing. She also revealed that she has been feeling weak and tired, and prayed against untimely death tearing them apart.

Portable had previously confirmed their union during the naming ceremony of their child, and Ashabi has often spoken warmly of their life together, referring to him as her love and a man blessed with grace.
