Power Meeting: TY Danjuma Pays Visit To President Tinubu (Photos)

Elder statesman, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), on Saturday paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

According to Ireporter Online, the meeting took place at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, and was disclosed in a brief statement issued by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun. The presidential aide noted that the President received the former Defence Minister in audience during the visit.

As of the time of filing this report, the details of discussions between the two leaders had not been made public.

The visit comes amid renewed national conversations around security challenges across the country. General Danjuma has in recent times maintained a strong position on the deteriorating security situation, repeatedly urging citizens to take greater responsibility for their protection.

Speaking recently at a public event in Takum, Taraba State, the former military chief reiterated a warning he first issued five years ago, insisting that it remains relevant in light of escalating violence in parts of the country. He stressed that Nigerians must rise to defend themselves, arguing that depending solely on government security structures is no longer sufficient.

Danjuma cited recent killings in Benue, Plateau and other affected regions as troubling indicators of persistent insecurity, expressing concern over what he described as the inability of authorities to adequately safeguard lives and property. He called for a collective, community-driven approach to self-defence, urging citizens to protect their families and communities against criminal elements.

His remarks followed renewed attacks in Benue and Plateau states, where several lives have reportedly been lost and communities displaced in recent weeks.
