Presidency Directs DSS, EFCC To Investigate Officials Linked To PFIPC Scandal

According to Ireporter Online, the Presidency has directed security and anti-graft agencies to identify, arrest, and prosecute any government officials allegedly linked to Prince Matthew Adeniyi Adeyemi over claims that he operated two fake federal government agencies.

Adeyemi is accused of establishing the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council using forged documents allegedly tied to the Presidency.

In a statement shared via his verified X handle, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, said investigations must extend beyond the suspect to uncover any internal collaborators who may have enabled the alleged scheme.

Ajayi urged the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe all public officials who may have facilitated or supported the operation.

He noted that contrary to public speculation, government institutions were the first to detect the alleged fraud and take administrative action. According to him, officials of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, initially uncovered irregularities in Adeyemi’s activities and escalated the matter to relevant authorities.

Ajayi stressed that while the system flagged the alleged misconduct, it is also evident that insiders may have aided the suspect over time.

He insisted that investigators must dismantle any possible network of collaborators within affected institutions, adding that anyone found culpable should face arrest and prosecution.

The Presidency had earlier disowned the two alleged organisations, stating that they are not recognised federal agencies. It also clarified that the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, had no involvement in or authorization of Adeyemi’s activities.

Ajayi further accused Adeyemi of attempting to falsely implicate the Chief of Staff as a diversionary tactic to shift attention from the allegations against him.

He described the suspect as a “reprehensible fraudster” allegedly seeking to manipulate public perception by introducing corruption claims against top officials.

The Presidency maintained that the matter should not be interpreted as evidence of high-level government complicity, but rather as a case of alleged fraud that was uncovered through internal monitoring systems.
