The motion, introduced by Hon. John Okafor of Imo State, highlighted increasing fraudulent activities linked to unverified POS users, threatening the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.

According to Okafor, ensuring proper documentation of POS users is critical to combating identity theft, money laundering, and unauthorized transactions. He emphasized the need for regulatory intervention to shield Nigerians from financial crimes. In response, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas mandated the relevant House Committees to propose solutions within four weeks, signaling a decisive step toward enhancing accountability and compliance within the sector.
