Rigorous Screening Set For Commissioner-Nominees – Fubara

Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, has described the screening process conducted by the Rivers State House of Assembly for his commissioner-nominees as one of the most rigorous exercises carried out by the legislature.

According to Ireporter Online, the governor made the remark while inaugurating five commissioners who were recently confirmed by the lawmakers. The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Onwuka Nzeshi.

Speaking during the ceremony, Fubara noted that the intensity of the screening exercise had already equipped the appointees with a clear understanding of their responsibilities in government, stressing that there was little need for additional directives.

He explained that the detailed questioning and evaluation carried out by the Assembly had effectively served as the charge required for the commissioners to begin their duties.

The governor, however, urged the newly sworn-in officials to remain committed and give their best in service to the people of the state, emphasizing that their successful passage through the rigorous legislative process demonstrated their readiness to deliver on their assignments.

“Ordinarily, I would have charged you on your responsibilities and how to operate, but that has already been taken care of during the screening at the Assembly. Having gone through one of the most rigorous screenings, it is enough to say that those who succeeded are fit and ready to deliver to our dear state,” he said, adding that he expects nothing short of excellent performance from them.

The commissioners sworn in at the event were Tonye Bellgam, Temple Nwofor, Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth and Amairigha Edward Hart.

The oath of allegiance and oath of office were administered by the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State, David D. Ihua-Maduenyi, formally marking their assumption of duties as members of the state executive council.
