Rivers Assembly Turns Down Four Of Fubara’s Commissioner Nominees

The Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected four commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Siminalayi Fubara. According to Ireporter Online, the nominees underwent screening by lawmakers on Monday during a plenary session at the Assembly complex in Port Harcourt.

Following the exercise, the Assembly confirmed five of the governor’s nominees. Those approved include Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

However, the lawmakers declined to confirm four other nominees: Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs. Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree. Governor Fubara had originally forwarded the names of nine individuals for consideration as commissioners and members of the Rivers State Executive Council.

Prior to the screening, the Assembly had instructed all nominees to submit the necessary documentation, including forty copies of their Curriculum Vitae, photocopies of academic credentials, and evidence of compliance with tax obligations. The directive was outlined in a government notice signed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Emeka Amadi, last Tuesday. All documents were to be submitted to the Office of the Clerk at the Assembly Quarters.
