Rivers State Gets A Justice Boost: Fubara Opens Two New High Court Divisions

Division in Bonny Local Government Area will be inaugurated on December 2, 2024.

Chief Registrar of the High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi, stated that the divisions were created following the recommendation of the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simone Chibuzor-Amadi, under Section 39, Subsection 2 of the High Court Law, Cap 62, Laws of Rivers State 2021. The two additions bring the total number of judicial divisions in Rivers State to fourteen, improving legal accessibility for residents in these areas.

In another development, Governor Fubara announced plans to present the 2025 budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo. He praised the productive collaboration between the executive and legislative branches, highlighting the swift approvals of nominees and executive bills. Speaking at a recent event in Bonny Local Government Area, Fubara underscored the government’s dedication to ensuring prosperity and development for the people of Rivers State.

The governor applauded the Speaker’s efforts to address local needs, especially through recent community projects, financial empowerment initiatives, and scholarships for Bonny students. He contrasted these actions with the lack of engagement from 25 former Assembly members he described as “Abuja-based politicians,” who he suggested have not initiated any meaningful projects for the state.

In response, Speaker Oko-Jumbo reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the development of Bonny Kingdom, assuring the community that their needs would be reflected in the forthcoming 2025 budget.
