Rivers State Governor Fubara Urges Calm Amid Criticism: “Ignore The Barking Dog

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged his supporters to remain composed despite recent political developments in the state. Speaking on Thursday during a New Year banquet at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara likened detractors to barking dogs, saying only those who fail to understand a situation make noise.

According to the Governor, he is confident that his political trajectory will be successful and that his path toward a second-term victory remains clear. He assured his supporters that all necessary preparations are in place to ensure a smooth election process.

“Don’t be disturbed by what is happening,” Governor Fubara said. “Caesar once said that a dog barks only when it does not understand. If a dog knows you in your own house, does it need to bark? So when the dog starts barking, maybe it is seeing something it does not understand. We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going and have set everything required to make the journey smooth.”

The Governor’s remarks come amid renewed tensions between him and former Governor and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, who recently stated that leadership missteps in Rivers State would be addressed in the 2027 elections.
