S3x Scandal Rocks Nigerian Church: Pastor Chris Okafor Steps Down Amid Allegations
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) is reportedly weighing further disciplinary measures against Pastor Chris Okafor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries following multiple sexual misconduct allegations. The decision comes after Pastor Okafor voluntarily stepped down from his pastoral duties amid public outcry over the scandals.
According to church sources, Pastor Okafor announced his temporary resignation during the New Year’s crossover service, citing a need for spiritual renewal. A senior PFN official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that prominent Christian leaders had urged the pastor to step aside to ease tensions within the community.
The source noted that the holiday period slowed PFN’s formal deliberations, as meetings could not be convened to discuss potential actions. “There are more things to be done in terms of disciplinary measures. Meetings could not be held to deliberate on actions against him, but under pressure from Christian leaders, he has stepped down for a month. Decisions are expected before the month ends,” the official said.
Addressing speculation about an internal investigation, the PFN executive clarified that the fellowship lacks statutory authority to investigate criminal allegations. “The PFN is not a law enforcement agency. Allegations of rape or other criminal acts are matters for the government to investigate. Our role is limited to spiritual pressure and discipline,” he said.
The official further emphasized that while PFN is engaging with the issue discreetly, such efforts should not be interpreted as a formal inquiry. “There are actions being taken behind the scenes, but this is not an investigation. Pastor Okafor’s stepping down reflects both PFN’s and the Christian community’s pressure, while the government must handle any criminal aspects,” he added.
