Sam Amadi Slams US Democracy as Corrupt, Compares Democrats to Nigeria’s APC

Sam Amadi, Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts and former Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has delivered a scathing critique of democracy in both the United States and Nigeria.

Amadi did not hold back in his assessment of American democracy, labeling it as corrupt and ineffective. He argued that both major political parties in the US, the Democrats and Republicans, are essentially failing in their roles. His criticism was particularly sharp towards the Democrats, whom he likened to Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC).

Amadi’s comments reflect a deep disillusionment with the political landscape. He remarked, “Obama is wrong. Democracy in the US is corrupt. Both parties are basically useless. But Democrats are liars like APC people. They will tell you Trump will destroy democracy. But for 4 years no democracy was destroyed. Just like APC & its press said GEJ was a drunkard. Lies & lies.”

In his statement, Amadi criticized the Democrats for their dire warnings about former President Donald Trump. Many Democrats had asserted that Trump posed a threat to democratic institutions, but Amadi dismissed these claims, suggesting they were unfounded. He drew a parallel to Nigerian politics, where the APC and certain media outlets had previously labeled former President Goodluck Jonathan (GEJ) as a drunkard. According to Amadi, these accusations were baseless and false.

Amadi’s remarks highlight a broader frustration with political narratives and the use of misinformation in shaping public opinion. His comparison of US and Nigerian political dynamics underscores a shared skepticism about the integrity of democratic practices in both nations.
