Edo:Siluko Road Takes Centre Stage As House Of Reps Urges Ministry Of Works To Commence Re-Construction Of Upper Siluko Rd(photos)

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to commence the reconstruction of Upper Siluko Road in Edo State through Ogbese in Ondo state.

This resolution was reached at the plenary on Wednesday following the adoption of a motion sponsored by the house member representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Dennis Idahosa and nine others.

The youthful lawmaker, Hon Dennis Idahosa who moved a motion on behalf of his colleagues noted that the Upper Siluko road in Edo State was a gateway that links Ogbese town in Ondo state and other States in the country, and it serves as an alternative route for commuters who are predominantly farmers in the transportation of their produce and services.

The lawmaker lamented the long-neglected road which is in a deplorable state and has caused a lot of hardship to users, leading to loss of revenues, man-hours and destruction of perishable goods. He further alerted the House that the road is now a haven for kidnappers and other criminal elements which has sadly turned into a lucrative venture for them.

Calling for the immediate reconstruction of the road, Hon Idahosa was optimistic that this would boost the economic activities in the area as well as the Nation at large, he also reminded them of the reduction in crime rate and accidents.

The lawmaker expressed concern that for long, the road which is in a deplorable state has been causing untold hardship to users, leading to loss of revenues, man-hours and destruction of perishable goods.

He further disclosed that the road is now a haven for kidnappers and other criminal elements to thrive in their activities.

The motion enjoyed the unanimous support of the House when it was put to a voice vote by the Deputy Speaker,Hon Idris Wase who presided over the plenary. House Committee on Legislative Compliance was however mandated to ensure implementation.
