Sokoto-State Government Calls On Vice President Kashim Shettima To Verify-Facts Before Public-Statements (Details)

Reacting to Vice President Kashim Shettima’s recent public warning at the Northwest Security Summit in Katsina, the Sokoto State Government has urged him to ensure thorough verification of facts before commenting on sensitive national issues.

In a statement issued by Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, the state government expressed disappointment that the Vice President did not verify news about an alleged plan to depose Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar with Sokoto State authorities before making his comments.

“We sincerely expected the Vice President to have consulted the Governor before going public,” the statement emphasized. “As an elder statesman and a father figure, he should possess comprehensive knowledge of issues of national concern before making judgments based on misinformation circulated by mischief makers and social media propagandists.”

Bawa clarified, “There was never any attempt to sack the Sultan nor have we issued any threats against him. The Sultan fully enjoys his rights and powers, and we remain committed to safeguarding and promoting his dignity and authority without external interference.”

The statement concluded by asserting Sokoto State’s unwavering responsibility to protect and uphold the Sultan’s position.
