Southern Delta University Expels, Suspends 19 Students for Attempted Murder, Forgery, Other Offences

Southern Delta University (SDU), Ozoro, located in Isoko North Local Government Area, has expelled eight students and rusticated 11 others over a series of serious infractions ranging from attempted murder to forgery.

According to an official bulletin issued by the university management on July 4, 2025, the students were found guilty of gross misconduct, including kidnapping, attempted murder, theft, altering bank drafts, presenting fake school receipts, exam malpractice, fighting, and stabbing fellow students — all breaches of their matriculation oath.

The statement specified that eight students were permanently expelled, while 11 others received a two-semester suspension each. Management also warned that the expelled students no longer have any association with the institution and must not be seen in or around the university community. Those rusticated were directed to vacate the campus and their hostels during their suspension period.

In the same release, the university cautioned all students ahead of its maiden convocation against holding unauthorized parties or engaging in practices like pouring water on colleagues or signing on shirts during signing-out ceremonies, stressing that violators would face stiff penalties.

The expelled students were identified as Okwoero Prince Okeoghene (200 level, Accounting), Peter Favour Ezechukwu (400 level, Library and Information Science), Oyenike Omorodion Abraham (200 level, Environmental Management), Akpedafe Samson (HND Conversion), Emeofagbe Faith Oghenekome (300 level, Library and Information Science), Tosin Falayi (100 level, Public Administration), Favour Oghenekaro (200 level, Mechanical Engineering), and Sunday Othuke (100 level, Entrepreneurship).

Meanwhile, those rusticated for two semesters include Owhofasa Gods will (400 level, Petroleum and Gas Engineering), Kingdom Israel Emamoke (200 level, Marine Engineering), Okonkwo Ugochukwu (300 level, Computer Engineering), Oyewale Victory (300 level, Petroleum and Gas Engineering), Lagos Isaac Onakpoma (200 level, Material and Metallurgical Engineering), Big Israel (200 level, Geology), Daniel Boulagha (200 level, Statistics), Onogbiechere Judith Ogheneyerowo (300 level, Business Administration), Inono Sanford Oghenekevwe (200 level, Computer Science), Odiakose Moses Victor (200 level, Computer Science), and Odiri Abraham Efemena (200 level, Civil Engineering and Water Resources).
