A man suspected to be a member of a cult group and electrical vandalism syndicate has been apprehended by police operatives in Akwa Ibom State, following a sting operation based on actionable intelligence. The arrest took place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in the Oku Abak area of Abak Local Government.

According to iReporter Online, the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Pius Pius, was found in possession of a human skull and various stolen public utility items, including a transformer step-down insulator, a circuit breaker, an electric meter, and several fuses.

Law enforcement officials disclosed that the suspect was taken into custody at his residence located at No. 80 School Road, Oku Abak, after surveillance teams tracked him based on credible leads.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, DSP Timfon John, confirmed that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a member of the Iceland Confraternity—an outlawed cult group allegedly involved in widespread destruction of public infrastructure in the area.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the extent of his criminal network and whether the human skull discovered at the scene was connected to any known or unsolved cases.

Security operatives believe the suspect may be part of a broader group responsible for recent acts of transformer vandalism and electricity sabotage across Abak and its surrounding communities.

The police have assured the public that further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses and emphasized the commitment of the Akwa Ibom State Command to curbing criminal activities and cult-related violence in the region.
