Tanko explained that Obi, despite facing criticism for his involvement, is committed to peaceful conflict resolution, even sacrificing sleep to ensure the situation didn’t spiral out of control. His intervention comes after Farotimi, facing a ₦50 million bail over an alleged defamation of Babalola, found himself at the center of the dispute. Obi had taken the bold step of visiting both Babalola and Farotimi, urging the respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to forgive Farotimi.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Tanko defended Obi’s actions, emphasizing that those criticizing the former governor don’t truly understand his values. He explained that Obi is not one to foster rancor and chaos and has always sought harmony among his supporters. “Peter Obi is a man who avoids division; he would never pick sides when two of his own are in conflict,” Tanko said. “Just as a parent would mediate between two children, Obi sought to balance the interests of both men and prevent the issue from escalating further.”

Tanko went on to stress that Obi’s leadership demonstrated his dedication to ensuring peace for those who believe in him, asserting that the former governor’s mediation was necessary to preserve the unity of his supporters. “Not everything was made public, but Obi worked relentlessly behind the scenes to ensure the matter didn’t spiral out of control,” he concluded.
