Tech Revolution Begins! Adeleke Unveils Africa’s First Artificial Intelligence University

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Friday laid the foundation for what is set to become Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence university — Curators University — in Modakeke, according to iReporter Online.

The groundbreaking institution is expected to offer a wide array of cutting-edge courses, including Machine Learning Specialisation, Computer Hardware Engineering, Data Analytics, Database Administration, Arbitration and Conflict Resolution, 3D Printing, and Polymer Science, among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Adeleke — represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole — described the establishment of the university as a “milestone achievement” that aligns with his administration’s five-point development agenda, particularly in the areas of education and youth empowerment.

He charged the management to ensure the institution rises to become one of Nigeria’s leading academic centres in both quality education and institutional culture.

According to iReporter Online, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola, joined the governor at the event, marking a historic moment for the host community, which is set to benefit from the economic and educational boost the university will bring.

Founder of Curators University, Mr. Olusola Amusan, underscored the urgent need for stronger public-private partnerships to revamp tertiary education in Nigeria. He called on the government to tap into existing endowment funds and loan schemes to support innovative educational institutions.

“If the government partners with us, this university will not only empower Nigerian youths with AI-focused education but also stimulate the economy of Modakeke and the entire Osun State,” he said.

According to iReporter Online, Amusan emphasized that the institution’s vision goes beyond academics — it is intended to be a national development catalyst by equipping students with relevant, future-ready skills.

Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the University Planning Committee, Barrister Abimbola Amusan, described Curators University as a forthcoming global hub for academic excellence and innovation.

“This university will empower youth, generate employment, and drive sustainable economic growth for generations,” he stated.
