Tensions Soar in PDP: Saraki Takes Charge of Emergency Peace Mission in Enugu

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, alongside other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, is currently in a closed-door meeting with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, as part of efforts to realign and strengthen the party ahead of looming political challenges.

Saraki shared news of the meeting via social media, noting that he is in Enugu with Governor Mbah, as well as Senators Seriake Dickson and Ibrahim Dankwambo, who are part of the PDP Strategy and Way Forward Committee.

“We’re here in Enugu for honest and focused discussions—conversations that are long overdue—as we strive to reposition our party for the promising future it deserves,” Saraki wrote.

The high-level meeting comes amid recent remarks by Minister of Works Dave Umahi, who claimed that all South-East governors, including Mbah, are aligning with President Bola Tinubu and may soon declare support for his 2027 re-election bid.

Saraki’s presence in Enugu, alongside two influential former governors, highlights the PDP’s renewed push to consolidate its position in the politically significant South-East region, especially as the 2027 general elections approach amid internal and external pressures.
