“They Can’t Silence Me!” – Senator Natasha Breaks Silence, Reveals What’s Coming Next
Suspended lawmaker representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has vowed to escalate her legal battle to the Court of Appeal following her dramatic denial of entry into the National Assembly, despite a valid court order reinstating her.
According to iReporter Online, the incident unfolded on Tuesday when security operatives at the gates blocked her from accessing the Senate chamber, sparking public outrage and condemnation from supporters.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, speaking to journalists shortly after being turned away, accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the Senate leadership of deliberately flouting a Federal High Court judgment delivered by Justice Binta Nyako.
According to iReporter Online, the embattled senator maintained that her legitimacy stems from the mandate given to her by the people of Kogi Central, not from the approval of the Senate leadership.
“Akpabio is not above the Constitution,” she said firmly. “The court has ruled in my favour, and until overturned by a higher court, that judgment stands. What happened today is not just contempt of court—it’s contempt for democracy itself.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan further described her suspension as “fraudulent” and “legally baseless,” alleging that the documentation justifying her removal was flawed from the start. She warned that the refusal to obey court orders sends a dangerous message about the rule of law in Nigeria.
According to iReporter Online, the senator has now resolved to meet with her legal team to file an appeal and seek judicial interpretation of the Senate’s actions. “I remain a law-abiding citizen,” she added. “But I will not be silenced. I will pursue this injustice all the way to the Court of Appeal.”
As of the time of this report, the Senate leadership has not issued any official comment on the matter.
