Tinubu Mourns Dantata in Kano, Describes Late Philanthropist as a Titan of Humanity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu paid a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano on Friday, describing the revered industrialist as a man who dedicated his entire life to serving others with compassion, humility, and unwavering integrity.

According to iReporter Online, the President arrived in Kano accompanied by top government officials and was warmly received by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf alongside a large crowd of political supporters from both the APC and NNPP—two rival camps momentarily united in grief and respect for the departed icon.

Alhaji Dantata passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Dubai at the age of 94 and was laid to rest in Madina, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, July 1. Reflecting on the enormous loss, President Tinubu described Dantata as a national treasure and a symbol of generosity whose legacy transcended partisan and regional boundaries.

“This is a deeply personal visit for me,” Tinubu said during his address at the Dantata family residence. “He was not just a respected figure; he was part of my family. I remember the prayers and blessings he offered me during the 2023 presidential campaign. His humility and sincerity were unmatched.”

The President recounted how he had promised to visit Dantata again after his election victory, only for the elder statesman to beat him to it by visiting Abuja instead. “That was who he was—humble to the core,” Tinubu added.

According to iReporter Online, President Tinubu went on to praise the late philanthropist’s immense contributions to national development, describing him as a man who lived entirely for others. “If goodwill extends into the afterlife, Dantata will still be found feeding the hungry and comforting the sick. His entire existence was built on selfless service,” the President remarked.

He prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, the government, and the people of Kano State, urging the nation to reflect on the values Dantata embodied. “We have lost a titan. We have lost the conscience of our country,” Tinubu said solemnly. “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”

According to iReporter Online, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, speaking on behalf of the Kano people, expressed profound appreciation for the President’s empathy and personal involvement throughout the mourning period. He highlighted Tinubu’s efforts in dispatching high-powered delegations to both Saudi Arabia and Kano and noted his pivotal role in facilitating international arrangements through diplomatic channels in Dubai and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Governor also praised the President for prioritising the condolence visit despite his demanding national schedule. “We remain grateful for your leadership, and we pray for your continued strength and good health as you lead Nigeria toward a greater future,” he said.
