Tinubu Holds Emergency Security Summit With Military And Police Chiefs Amid Rising Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday convened a high-level security meeting with the nation’s Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid growing concerns over escalating insecurity across the country.

The meeting, which was ongoing at the time of reporting, included the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Ajayi.

Presidential aide Dada Olusegun shared images from the session on his official account, noting that the discussions formed part of intensified efforts to address nationwide security challenges.

The session followed President Tinubu’s recent reiteration of his administration’s determination to tackle the country’s security issues decisively. He emphasized that his government “will not relent until every part of Nigeria is secure.”

The President also highlighted recent successes in combating criminal activity, including the rescue of 38 worshippers abducted from a church in Eruku, Kwara State, and 51 students kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State.

President Tinubu further revealed that he had canceled his planned attendance at the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally oversee Nigeria’s emergency security operations, stating that the safety of citizens remains his top priority.
