The CEO of MMF, Dr. Aisha Muhammad-Oyebode, marked the 48th anniversary of Gen. Muhammed’s death by urging the government to revisit the successful strategies implemented during his administration in the mid-1970s.
Gen. Murtala Muhammed’s tenure was characterized by significant improvements in Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape. His leadership saw advancements in various sectors, fostering hope and progress among Nigerians. However, his promising regime was cut short by an unsuccessful coup in 1976.
Dr. Muhammad-Oyebode emphasized the need for urgent action to tackle the prevailing hardships faced by Nigerians. She pointed to the achievements of the Muhammad-Obasanjo military regime, citing their efforts to combat corruption, promote national pride, and streamline bureaucratic processes.
Highlighting Gen. Muhammed’s commitment to fighting corruption and driving economic reforms, Dr. Muhammad-Oyebode urged the current administration to draw inspiration from his vision. She emphasized the potential for replicating past successes to revive Nigeria’s economy and improve the well-being of its citizens.
With the guidance of Murtala Muhammed’s policies, there’s hope for a brighter economic future for Nigeria under President Tinubu’s leadership.
