To be qualified as a professor of human resources one must provide leadership primarily through demonstrating and fostering excellence in moulding, mentoring, teaching, professional competency and policy development at a variety of levels.

Professorial leadership is linked to a record of political discipline, community development, economic ratio, efficiency, stability, continuity and professional achievement in the relevant discipline.

Welcome to “Lecture 2023”.

Meet the Professor of human resources and the highest political teacher of all times, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Jagaban of Borgu.
Not only has he remained politically relevant since 1999 to date but he has also continued to hold sway in our national polity.

A look at his cabinet as Lagos State Governor validates this postulation.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Babatunde Fashola, Akinwunmi Ambode, Babajide Sanwo-olu,Rauf Aregbesola,Alhaji Lai Muhammed,Ben Akabueze, Sunday Dare,Mrs. Kemi Nelson,Opeyemi Bamidele,Dele Alake,Senator Solagbade Olufemi Lanlehin,Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro,Tunji Bello, Joe Igbokwe,Obafemi Hamzat,Ade Ipaye,Babatunde Fowler,Muiz Banire, Wale Edun,Aurthur Worrey and Lekan Pitan.

Tinubu put together great human resources from all over Nigeria and worked with them as a team.

For instance, Yemi Osinbajo was Lagos Attorney-General, he’s from Ogun. Lai Mohammed is from Kwara, Wale Edun the finance commissioner is from Ogun State, Dele Alake is from Ekiti State, Rauf Aregbesola is from Osun State,Ben Akabueze is from Anambra State, Joe Igbokwe is also from Anambra State,Femi Lanlehin, is from Oyo State, Aurthur Worrey who served as commissioner for lands is from Delta State just to mention a few.

No Governor to date has such a composition of cabinet members from different States. All Tinubu’s cabinet members are political leaders in the various States. Many served or are serving Governors,  Senators, Ministers, House of Rep members, board chairmen etc.

Aside from their active political leadership, these people have been able to create an impact in their various political endeavours after serving Lagos State meritoriously.

Yesterday an activist friend of mine based in the United Kingdom called me to express his anger for my continuous support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said “Osigwe na wah for you oh, why your constant support for the Jagaban? ”

I lectured him on the course “Politics 2023”, and why Jagaban seems to be the right man to succeed Buhari. Now let us take our minds back to 1999, how many of us can recall our elected Governors by their names not to talk of even mentioning their cabinet members?

Lagos is what it is today because of political stability and continuity, see in Nigeria we suffer from years of decadence because of a lack of continuity, when a new government comes into play it jettisons the previous ongoing projects of their predecessor and begins a fresh one just for the selfish reasons to claim self credit.

Imagine if Buhari had stopped the railway revolution started by Goodluck Jonathan where would we have been today as regards the giant strides attained in the railway transportation system?

This team of players assembled by Tinubu in 1999 has been able to leverage on the foresight of the Jagaban, this is what Nigeria needs at this trying times. A detribalized government devoid of nepotism and favouritism. A government that is centred in goal getting and financial prudence.

What legacies did the South-South Governors that earned madly during the oil boom have to their credit? Which State can boast of an efficient transport system, waste management system, urban housing system, revenue generation system like Lagos?

It is laughable when the ignorant scream and say Lagos as a former capital city attained its glorious height today because of its status, I laugh as if we have not seen ex-capital cities in the world that other states are even better developed than. Last time I checked Washington D.C remains the capital of the United States and yet arguably not the most developed or beautiful state in America.

Dubai was a desert a few decades ago and today it is the best megacity in the world, nothing made it so my brother if no be Money…Pepper …Ego …Kudi …Owo if the Dubai authorities were not sincere, financially prudent, corruption-free, determined and consistent Dubai no go be wetin e b today.

It is true that money makes the world go round because it facilitates invention and progress in various fields.

Every state in Nigeria has had its own fair share of riches that would have made that State an Eldorado even better than Lagos.

We must stop chasing shadows and go for the substance. All the likely political contestants In 2023 fortunately or unfortunately will come from the ranks of an Ex-governor or an Ex-senator or an Ex-minister or a Serving Governor, Serving Minister or Serving Senator etc. We must face the reality 2023 is just here, around the corner.
As a good student of political arithmetic, I lectured my friend on the reality on ground and he agreed with me and said “Osigwe make we dey look”.

So far as political success is concerned Tinubu remains the most influential and charismatic politician today, and he attained this feat strictly by hard work. For someone who left political power in 2007, it is amazing that he still commands respect both from his party and the opposition.

The certification of a true maestro is not just the ability to rule well but also the ability to nurture and groom associates.

Twale for Professor Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Asiwaju of Our Time.
