Tinubu’s Generosity Transcends Politics, Community Development And Human Capacity Building By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

A bird does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song!!!

This quote has been credited to a lot of philosophers and interpreted in so many different ways depending on the perspective in view. For me, I see singing as an act done out of inspiration without compulsion.

We often spend our time looking for solutions to afflictions without taking out time to appreciate what we have. And believe it or not, the worries we spend our time on always turns out negative.

The bird is least worried about why things are the way it is, the bird is not compelled to sing because of what people say or what people think, or to be admired or criticised the bird sings because it is happy, out of the overflow of its heart the bird sings.

True generosity comes without strings attached it is an impulse and not out of ego-tripping.

Today the average politician is seen speaking out and reaching out when elections are close, they are shouting because they want you to know that they have the solutions to your problems, this is their routine every four years.

When growing up as a student of the Awoist Movement I have always admired Tinubu in his show of compassion towards the people, funny enough Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a student of the progressives was always at the forefront of reaching out in helping to address the problems faced by his friends, associates and his immediate constituency.

A typical Nigerian man and politician by extension would seek to find out the cause of the problems before offering a helping hand which probably may never come to fruition.

Let me give you an example, a man is seen in distress in need of help maybe after falling victim to armed robbers and he’s left lying in the pool of his own blood, passersby start debating the man’s kindness before offering a helping hand. Some will say no b Papa Alao be that? That wicked landlord, hand don meet am, some might even say worse while others may decide to help while singing into the ears of Papa Alao how grateful he should be for their hospitality.

Let me attempt another descriptive illustration, a renowned drunkard gets drunk and falls into the gutter, passersby start taking pictures and mocking the drunk, you see am he don NOn-NOn, useless man. Na that gutter u go sleep, shameless man.

The ideal thing to do by a good Samaritan is to save the life of the drunk without reservations, as all lives matter.

The bird sings because it has a song to sing. Generosity sees no barrier. To have peace today, you have to do the things that have meaning to you and help you to fulfil a part of yourself.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven to be that politician that reaches out to the masses out of the abundance of love from his heart.

As an accomplished accountant and auditor, Tinubu left the United States to come back to Nigeria to help salvage the country. Even when Tinubu was later caught up in the tyrannical days of Abacha and needed to join forces with the progressives to enthrone democracy he was chased out into exile and lost his properties and business interest but yet he was heavily involved in the financing of The National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Radio Kudirat and other pro-democracy groups.

Tinubu was sacrificing a part of himself as well to his community, his friends and associates even when he was going through excruciating times.

One striking attribute about Tinubu is the way generosity oozes around the Jagaban, his circle are successful, his associates are blessed, his aides are doing well, his subjects are doing great.

So far 90 % of Tinubu’s cabinet members and economic team when he served as Lagos State Governor are all SHINNING in their respective fields. Even the Lagos he administered is doing very well.

Aside from political benevolence, Tinubu has been associated with so many philanthropic gestures that have no colouration with political activities.

I recall vividly the role, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu played during and after the burial of my late Dad, Elder John Omo-Ikirodah in 2003. He stood by our family even from far away Lagos State. I can’t forget the part the Jagaban played in his remembrance even years after.

Tinubu not only stands by you he also musters his associate to stand alongside you. Even in the time of exile Tinubu never stopped his benevolent acts to his beneficiaries under his scholarship scheme, he continued to pay the school fees of thousands of people not even minding he was trading some properties to continue this act.

Tinubu left power in 2007 and has been oiling his political, social, community and philanthropic services, his benevolence has indeed tripled.

When it comes to giving only the cheerful heart gives without reservation. Tinubu is a man that is loved because of his genuine love for humanity.

Tinubu’s Generosity Transcends Seeking For The Presidency In Any Way.
