The black market, also known as the parallel market, recorded a Dollar to Naira exchange rate of ₦1,440 for selling and ₦1,420 for buying on Saturday, February 14, 2026, according to sources at Bureau De Change operators in Lagos. The figures indicate where individuals could exchange their dollars for Naira outside official banking channels.

It is important to note that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize transactions in the parallel market. The apex bank has repeatedly advised citizens and businesses seeking foreign currency to engage exclusively with authorized financial institutions.

For comparison, the official CBN exchange rate for the dollar ranged between ₦1,353 and ₦1,358 on the same day, highlighting a significant difference between the official and parallel market rates. Experts caution that black market rates fluctuate frequently, and the prices at which individuals buy or sell may differ from published figures.
