Tonto Dikeh Reveals She Smoked For 27 Years, Starting At Age 13
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has publicly shared her testimony of overcoming years of smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation, and prolonged anger issues during a Sunday service at Streams of Joy International Church.
According to reports, Dikeh delivered the testimony at the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations service, led by the church’s founder, Pastor Jerry Eze. In a video shared on YouTube by DCLImagery, the actress recounted that she began smoking at the age of 13 and struggled with alcohol and masturbation for many years, attributing her transformation to divine intervention.
“I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from masturbation, too,” Dikeh said, revealing that she had experienced sexual dreams since childhood. She described her appearance at the altar as an act of both testimony and thanksgiving, admitting she had considered withdrawing due to concerns over her public image. “The devil tried to tell me that I was supposed to protect my image. But I told myself, what image? The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away,” she added.
Dikeh also noted that attending the Ghana Prayer Conference marked a turning point in her spiritual life, helping her break free from years of what she described as spiritual oppression. She further discussed struggling with what she called “demonic anger,” which previously affected her relationships and daily life. “An anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it. But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace,” she said.
The actress revealed that her smoking habit lasted about 27 years, influenced by her father’s own smoking. She urged parents to be mindful of habits that could negatively impact their children. Dikeh said that after seeking divine intervention, she no longer experiences urges for cigarettes or alcohol. “My body does not ask for it. My body is repelling it. Today, it is broken,” she affirmed.
Pastor Eze prayed for Dikeh, declaring that “the body of sin is broken” and describing her as “a voice in her generation.” The actress later shared photos from the church on Instagram, captioning them: “A living testimony of mercy. One God spared, restored, and commissioned.”
In recent months, Dikeh has spoken openly about her renewed Christian faith, describing her spiritual journey as one of peace, restoration, and commitment to serving God.
