According to reports, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) disconnected UCH’s power supply for 17 days over unpaid bills, critically impacting essential hospital functions, including lab testing and surgeries.
In the video, patients voiced their distress, saying, “People are in pain, people are dying in the ward. UCH, don’t kill us—we need power. Don’t tarnish the reputation of UCH, a premier hospital.”
The hospital’s management, speaking to Daily Post, explained that UCH falls under the “Band A” electricity tariff category, which requires a monthly payment of N80 million.
In another report, a man in Rivers State was lynched by a mob while allegedly attempting a crime. Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that after the mob’s action, the body was left on a road where it was struck by a vehicle.
