The EFCC has arrested former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for interrogation.

Former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has been interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of mismanagement of N10 billion in pension funds.

According to a source, the EFCC picked the former Governor in response to a petition signed by some Kano State government retirees.

“Kwankwaso is currently being interrogated by a team of operatives at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja,” the source said.

He is being investigated for allegations of abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds, and the fraudulent transfer of government property to cronies.

The EFCC first invited Kwankwaso, who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, in September, but he did not show up.

According to another source, he “may have been picked in relation to a petition by some retired Kano State Government employees who had previously petitioned the EFCC, alleging that the former Governor mismanaged pension remittances to the tune of N10 billion between 2011 and 2015 to fund a housing project for cronies.”

When contacted on Saturday, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, declined to comment on the former Governor’s interrogation.

Soon, there will be more information…
