Uba Sani Approves ₦2.3 Billion Pension Windfall For Kaduna Retirees, Families

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved the disbursement of ₦2.321 billion for the payment of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits to retirees and families of deceased civil servants across the state.

According to Ireporter Online, the allocation covers accrued rights under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) as well as payments under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS). With this latest release, the government has disbursed ₦6.678 billion in 2025 alone and a total of ₦13.5 billion since Governor Sani assumed office two years ago.

The Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, emphasized that pensioners’ welfare remains central to the governor’s agenda, noting that timely and consistent payments are aimed at easing the burden faced by senior citizens who devoted their lives to public service. He stressed that the governor is committed to treating retirees with dignity and respect.

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Pension Bureau, Ibrahim Balarabe, revealed that 661 beneficiaries, including retirees and families of deceased workers, will be covered in the latest round of payments. Out of the sum, ₦1.736 billion has been set aside for 511 retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme, while ₦585 million is allocated to 315 pensioners and next-of-kin under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

Balarabe added that accrued rights for those under the Contributory Pension Scheme will be credited directly into their Retirement Savings Accounts with their respective Pension Fund Administrators, while those under the Defined Benefit Scheme will undergo screening and verification before payments are made.

The Pension Bureau reiterated that Governor Sani regards pension obligations not only as a statutory responsibility but also as a moral duty to uphold the dignity and livelihood of retirees while reinforcing trust in the state workforce.
