Unbelievable Scenes: Super Eagles Players Forced To Sleep At Airport In Libya – Outrage From National AssemblyPhotos have surfaced showing members of the Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national football team, sleeping on airport seats in Libya as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) works to arrange their return home. The players have been stranded at Al Abraq Airport since Sunday, October 13, in anticipation of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya scheduled for Tuesday, October 15.
Images from the airport reveal Fulham’s Calvin Bassey dozing off in his national team tracksuit, while team captain William Troost-Ekong was spotted comfortably resting on a seat despite the surrounding turmoil.
In contrast, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface was unable to sleep, opting to stay awake with headphones on, seated uncomfortably in front of a laptop.
The Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) reported that Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, has condemned the mistreatment of the Super Eagles in Libya. Amadu emphasized that the actions of the Libyan Football Federation have transcended sports, tarnishing the reputation of African football. He commended the players for their patriotism during this chaotic ordeal, assuring that the Nigerian government is focused on ensuring their safety.
